Lunch Aug 7
With 2 friends who live close by and had never heard of Penn's. HELLO !! FOLKS you are missing out!
1st off super historic & old building that does NOT make you all creeped out or feel unsafe or all dusty!
2nd its locally owned by a man whose family has been in the area for generations - support your local restaurant owners! The hostess, his wife who we shall call "Lady Seminole" , was very friendly and forthcoming with information on the property - you could sense her passion for the business!
Food was good. all 3 had sandwiches (as lunch choices are Apps and Sandwiches and salads) I would recommend each day trying to have 1 main entree type dish as a special. Sandwiches were good. I had the Cuban and although it wouldn't pass muster in Tampatown - it was very unique and tasty for up north chow!
But - the thing that SOLD ME on the food was the FRENCH FRIES. Y'all, these may be the best fries I have ever had. Gordon Ramsey would be proud!
Can't wait to go back for DINNER!!! -

We were at a kinda nearby soccer game and this place sounded good. It is on the water. I guess it is in a really old structure. The layout is a little weird. We sat at the bar. It looks like they have a decent selection of beer and alcohol. They have four German entrees. I got Sarah's sliced steak. It was pretty good! It had some kind of pineapple dressing on it. My wife got a burger. She ordered it well done but it came out medium RAW. The bartender was nice and got her a new one. That was ready just as I was finishing. The fries were fine. There were a couple of dessert options. I did like my food but between the cost and my wife's burger for this visit I can only give three stars and don't think I would go out of my way (which is the only way to go there) to go there.

We had an amazing experience here! Our server was great and very knowledgeable. Their manager also took time to take some of our party for a tour. It's an interesting building with so much history.

Nice setting and service was good, but food here took forever and was just mediocre. For an appetizer we had the bruschetta which was the best part of the meal. I ordered the wiener schnitzel which was boring and floating in oil. The red cabbage that came with it was not very good and the spetzel was completely tasteless. Someone else had the fish tacos which had lots of fish but not much else. Perhaps there are some better things on the menu but we did not find them.

What a lovely place to stop on our trip through PA! It's beautifully situated on the water with an expansive lawn and comfortable, spacious deck with umbrellas. Our waitress simply couldn't be any nicer - the whole staff were welcoming and helpful. Our tiramisu was light and delicious and the iced coffee was refreshing. We only wish we had longer to linger. Highly recommended.
